I’m a Registered Dietitian with a Weight-Inclusive approach who helps women reach their health goals and make peace with food.
Hi, I’m Theresa
A Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist, Clinical Dietitian and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor with a passion for helping women honor their health through every season of life. Whether you are struggling with an eating disorder, chronic dieting, or body image. I am here to help!
My Story
**trigger warning for eating disorder
Like many women, my struggles with food and body image started when I was a child. I grew up chronically dieting in hopes to get my “dream body.” This cycle of chronic dieting led to disordered eating patterns and by the time I was a teen I had an eating disorder.
I was able to get treatment for my eating disorder where I learned tools to help me navigate through this time. Now that I am a dietitian, I use these same tools with my clients struggling with disordered eating or chronically dieting to achieve a smaller body size. My experience with overcoming an eating disorder has led me to want to help other women find peace with food and learn how to eat intuitively to stop with the negative self talk and body image, improve health conditions and honor their health through proper nutrition.
With my own struggles with body image and food, I started my journey in the intuitive eating space. I received my Bachelor’s in Nutritional Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University and continued on with another year of an internship to become a Registered Dietitian, later on became a Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition and recently become an Intuitive Eating Counselor. I have worked many years in clinical nutrition and have extensive experience working with clients who have medical conditions such as renal disease and diabetes. I have worked with many women who also struggle with poor body image. As I worked with them, one thing became clear- many women are focused on achieving a smaller body size as being the answer to help them feel better and improve their medical condition (i.e. diabetes). But this does not address the underlying issue causing their health issues or poor relationship with food.
This sparked my interest in the concept of Intuitive Eating, so I became a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor which has taught me how to influence others to change their relationship with food and their body. With all the misinformed and often destructive nutrition information out there, I want to be a light to provide appropriate information combining medical nutrition therapy and encouraging women to listen to their bodies to tell them how much and when to eat. I continue educating myself on nutritional therapy treatments for disordered eating, various disease states and how food can impact the way we think, feel, move, eat and love.
